There are many dangers to sharks, across the globe but to save your time we will just list a few:
-
Killer Whales-these creatures have been recently known to hunt in packs to use tonic immobility to paralyse sharks to eat their livers. The
question is: why? Shark livers are large, mainly accounting for 1/20 or more of a shark’s complete body weight. They are rich in oil, with a main component, squalene, providing an
energy store and giving sharks' buoyancy because their bodies don't have the swim-bladder mainly found in bony fish.
-
Fishermen-many sharks die every year from over-fishing- a reported 100 million sharks die each year, and one of the main incentives are fishermen.
-
Shark Finning-this practice is very cruel indeed and millions of sharks die each year because of shark finning. The fisherman catch the shark, cut of it's fins and throw the
poor thing back into the water, to die a very sad death. The fins are cut off mainly for one reason-shark fin soup. This is an Asian delicacy, which many believe to have healing powers. Other
reasons are to sell the fin for a great amount of money or just for fun.
